🏆 Trail of the Year: Carol Ann Cross Greenway Named ARPA Hard Surface Trail of the Year |
Fort Smith’s award-winning greenway sets a new standard for accessible outdoor wellness and community recreation. |
The Carol Ann Cross Greenway & Boardwalk has been officially recognized as the 2025 ARPA Hard Surface Trail of the Year by the Arkansas Recreation and Parks Association — a significant honor that highlights Fort Smith’s commitment to accessible, high-quality outdoor spaces.
Located at Carol Ann Cross Park, the project introduced a thoughtfully designed expansion that includes a new concrete trail, an elevated boardwalk, and a scenic river overlook. Together, these features form a 1.2-mile continuous walking path that is fully ADA-accessible, making it welcoming for people of all ages and mobility levels.
Whether you're looking for a peaceful place to clear your mind, a scenic route for daily walks, or a safe path for family outings, the Carol Ann Cross Greenway delivers a space where movement and nature meet.
This recognition not only celebrates the trail’s design and accessibility but reinforces the growing importance of public wellness spaces that support both physical and mental health across the River Valley.
