Main Article Headline

A simple DIY walking “class” you can do anytime — no sign-ups, no equipment, just movement.

When you want a workout that’s flexible, free, and outside, Ben Geren Park is one of the River Valley’s best places to move. With miles of paved trails, gentle rolling stretches, and beautiful tree-lined scenery, it feels like your own personal outdoor studio.

This week, try our DIY Walking Class — a simple 20–30 minute session you can do solo or with a friend. No sign-ups. No equipment. Just show up and move.

🌳 Why Ben Geren?

Ben Geren is big enough to explore but easy to navigate. You’ll find paved loops, open fields, and plenty of space to settle into your pace.

Perks:

  • Long + short loops available

  • Mix of shade + sun

  • Dog-friendly

  • Great for all fitness levels

  • Easy parking

Whether you’re a casual walker or ready to push the pace, you can scale this class to fit your day.

🚶 DIY Class: 25-Minute Walking Session

“Walk your pace. Notice your body. Enjoy the space.”

✅ Warm-Up (5 min)

Start easy.
Breathe in through your nose, out through your mouth.
Shake out your hands. Drop your shoulders.

✅ Main Walk (15 min)

Pick a pace that feels challenging but comfortable.
You should be able to talk, but not sing.

Optional push:
Every 3 minutes, walk slightly faster for 45–60 seconds.

✅ Cool Down (5 min)

Slow your pace.
Take 5 deep breaths.
Finish with light stretching — calves, hamstrings, chest.

That’s it — DIY, flexible, effective.

✨ Mini Add-On: Park Bench Strength

If you want more:

  • 10 bench push-ups

  • 10 step-ups each side

  • 20-second stretch

Repeat once.

Takes 5 minutes — nice boost.

🌿 Helpful Support

Steady blood sugar = steady energy → better walks.

Many RVHL readers pair light exercise with
👉 Root & Vigor — Metabolic Balance (Berberine)
to support natural glucose metabolism and balanced appetite.

Use it to reinforce the wellness habits you’re building outdoors.

📅 Make It a Habit

Try this class 3x this week.

Go at sunrise… mid-day… or after dinner.

Whatever fits your life.

If you want accountability, bring a friend —
you’ll both show up more consistently.

Final Thought

You don’t need to join a gym or sign up for a class to improve your health.

Sometimes, the simplest routine — a walk in a beautiful park — is all your body and mind need.

Ben Geren is your outdoor studio.

Step outside… and start your class.
